Who’s flying this ship?
Hello there! I’m Jessica—a 23-year-old bibliophile, blogger, and journalist. Some of my nerdy history: I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was 8 years old, when my parents introduced me to the masterpiece that is The Phantom Menace. (There’s only love for the Prequels here.)
At the ripe age of 10, I watched the first Iron Man film, and my love for Marvel has only grown from there. I’m a true Lord of the Rings film stan—my family rewatches them almost every year. (And no, I haven’t read the books yet…I know, I know! It’s a 2023 goal of mine.)
Along with these nerdy favorites, I am an avid reader and lover of books. I particularly enjoy sci-fi, fantasy, dark academia, and women’s fiction. Recently, I’ve found a passion in reading and reviewing comics. (You can blame Star Wars: The High Republic for that!)
You can also find me as a Contributor on Dork Side of the Force, a Star Wars website.

This Week’s Comic Pulls: Dec. 28th
Marvel and DC really outdid themselves this week—you’d think they would slow down toward the end of the year, but it was the exact opposite. My haul was full of new Star Wars stories and some exciting second issues. Check it out!
This week, I pulled:
The Riddler: Year One #2 written by Paul Dano with art by Stevan Subic
This second installment in a 6-issue miniseries written by the Riddler actor himself continues the story of Edward Nashton’s transformation into the iconic Batman villain.
Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #2 written and with art by Tradd Moore
A beautiful, psychedelic adventure which brings Doctor Strange to a new and unfamiliar land full of swords and vivid colors. The second issue of a 4-part miniseries.
Timeless (2022) #1 written by Jed MacKay with art by Greg Land, Jay Leisten, Patch Zircher & Salvador Larroca
A giant one-shot that follows Kang the Conqueror as he looks for the Missing Moment by tumbling through the future of the Marvel comic universe. A sneak peek of what’s to come for Marvel!
Star Wars: Yoda (2022) #2 written by Cavan Scott with art by Nico Leon
This second issue of a 10-part miniseries follows Yoda as he reflects on his past to learn important lessons about the Force. (Be on the lookout for my review on Dork Side.)
Star Wars: The High Republic (2022) #3 written by Cavan Scott with art by Ario Anindito
Phase II of The High Republic continues with this explosive issue that dives into the backstory of a disgraced Guardian of the Whills.
Star Wars: The High Republic—The Blade #1 written by Charles Soule with art by Marco Castiello
One of my most anticipated comic releases of the year, this first installment of a 4-issue miniseries gives the backstory of Porter Engle, nicknamed The Blade of Bardotta. (Be on the lookout for my review on Dork Side.)
